Alex Firmin
About Alex:
Alex is an experienced education consultant and has built his own consultancy business, working across all sectors, with clients including Raytheon, KPMG and Barnardo’s. His exposure to working with both larger and smaller businesses and charities, and his intense interest in social and behavioural science has expanded his breadth of knowledge and influenced his confidence in providing leadership support to a wide range of people. A key attribute of Alex’s skillset is his ability to design and deliver engaging personal and professional development programmes, adapting his style and approach dependent on his audience. Currently, Alex is developing research-based programmes focussing on leadership self-efficacy, eco-systemic leadership, and managing neurodivergent colleagues.
Prior to working in consultancy, Alex was an army officer, progressing through the ranks to Major. During this period, Alex studied Pashto and worked to support post-conflict reconstruction and development, primarily in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. This experience then sparked an interest to work with community leaders in Kabul, supporting the development of governance and infrastructure.
Alex holds three master’s degrees: Educational Innovation, Psychology, and Occupational Psychology, and is slowly working towards a PhD to further develop his knowledge and understanding of social and behavioural science, and how this applies to his role. In his spare time, Alex is kept busy by his two children and two labradors!
