The One Consistent that Will Get Us Through the Challenges of These Extraordinary Times, is Our Ability to Both Respond to and Drive Change

Welcome to the latest of our ‘Catalyst’ newsletters. What an extraordinary year 2020 has turned out to be. We know that some companies have been slow to adapt to lock-down and some have been heavily impacted by the collapse of their markets. Covid-19 has not just revealed the instability of whole economies, it has unveiled the fragility of our world and everything we hold dear in it.

The business models of some of our clients have been immeasurably changed by the current crisis – but there are signs of better days ahead. Some have already found their ‘next normal’ and are forging ahead with plans for an imminent re-start. Others have spotted opportunities, completed mergers and have grasped the opportunities that less able leaders may have missed. As Winston Churchill said, “never waste a crisis.” We are working with businesses that are emerging from these difficult days: leaner; faster; wiser and more able to adapt to the challenge of continuous change.

At Morgan James, we have welcomed the ‘pause’ that has enabled us to reflect on our own business model. We are thrilled to have taken the time to:

  • Recruit new experts into our tribe and welcome: Jess Carter, ex BBC and GMTV Producer who is our new Communications Specialist – helping clients to tell the stories that journalists and audiences want to hear; Martyn Corfield, our Business Performance Improvement Specialist who brings his entrepreneurial experience to help companies to increase efficiencies and ensure that they have the resources to deliver on their growth intentions.  They complement our tribe of Behavioural Specialists; Financial and Strategic Experts; Business Change Strategists, Brand, Marketing and Creative Partners. With the talent in our team, we are truly equipped to help to stabilise and grow leaders and management teams in every business sector.

  • We have developed our online offering through virtual classrooms and webinars to ensure that our clients are able to rise to their challenges. We have a broad range of online masterclasses to help you to: lead through adversity; find your iron underpants to build resilience in your teams, or improve your problem solving capability.   • And finally, we’ve had time to create a new, dynamic website that truly represents our business, sharing details or our coaching and consultancy services, our latest workshops and our highly acclaimed Step into Management and Strategic Leaders Programs. We recognise how crucial it is to have innovative, analytical and inspirational leadership populations – now more than at any other time for a generation – and that’s exactly what we’re able to develop. We are so proud of our graduates and their ability to negotiate the shifting sands of the past few months. Lily Newman
Lily is a behavioural strategist and leadership consultant with 20+ years’ experience of building better businesses and stronger teams. An ex-BBC journalist with a first-class honours degree in Communications (majoring in psychology and corporate communications) Lily has worked with a wide range of company leaders and household names, helping them to understand, communicate with and influence their staff, stakeholders and audiences more effectively. A Behavioural and brand development specialist, she also works with companies to help them develop ‘value building behaviours’ within their workforces, ensuring that brand values get off the paper and into the culture of their businesses.
